November 20: Fresh snow - let's ski!

The dogs and I took advantage of ample fresh snow and went skiing at Bridger this morning before work.  The atmosphere and snow were delightful.  It feels so great to be back on skis!!

First snow and first ski day of season

Although the snowline has been working down the mountains for weeks now, we had the first snow of the season in-town today.  Snow fell for most of the day and accumulated several inches.  It was very refreshing.

First ski day

Tetons, March 2-4

Over a three day weekend, we sampled the skiing in the Tetons, starting with Grand Targhee, enjoying a day at Jackson Hole, and finishing with a Teton Pass backcountry ski. We met up with Jackson locals Liz and Stacy, Dom, Wendy, Eck, and Grant from Boulder, and Tim from Bozeman. Days were consumed by either skiing, apres ski, or sleep. We had a great time, enjoying one of the best ski locations in the world.

Pow pow day at Bridger

We met up with a posse of tele skiers (and one snowboarder) at Bridger to take advantage of another 10 inches of pow pow.  Julie and I skied with Derek, Erin, Sven, and Suzi.  We saw lots of other friends, like Sam, who had a close call with an avalanche recently.  Be careful out there!

Feb 3rd and 4th - fresh snow and Bridger Bowl

Saturday we awoke with no fresh snow in-town and no idea that the Bridgers, esp. the higher elevations had received some significant overnight snow. When news reached us, our lazy morning turned into a rush to get to Bridger Bowl and enjoy the skiing. The skiing was very nice, knee deep snow in places.

On Sunday we fested with Saturday's snow leftovers. We met up with a telemark skiing possee of Suzi, Steve, Colleen, Sven, and Chelsea. We picked up Tyler, a ripping tele skier who has won the Bridger Freeride Tele competition, on a ridge hike. And, for the record, Steve and Sven are dentists, and Tyler is working to become a dentist. Let's just say there were lots of dental conversations...
